We started Heard to help therapists
Therapists typically don’t learn about finance or accounting in grad school.
So when they go into private practice without training or a tailored solution, they’re left to patchwork together their financial systems with DIY software, spreadsheets, and expensive accounting professionals.
In 2019, Andrew—an accountant married to a therapist—teamed up with Victoria—a software engineer working at a mental health startup—to found Heard, the first financial management software company for independent therapists.
While we’ve grown since then, and learned a lot along the way, our purpose has remained the same. This isn’t just a business to us. It’s a personal mission to empower therapists to get back to the work they love, which is helping their clients, not wrangling their finances.
